Friends and co-workers attended a retirement cookout for
John Stroup, who served Burke County
EMS from 1975 until 2004.
Captain Stroup served as the Supervisor for A-Shift. John also
serves as the Assistant Chief for Salem Fire & Rescue.
John is the first EMS employee who
served and retired with a 30 year retirement. John still plans on remaining
active in the Emergency Services Community through providing education and
training, and serving with his volunteer Fire Department. John also is a
lover of camping and plans on spending time with his wife Cathy and his
daughter Whitney.
John is loved and respected by all who know him and he
will truly be missed at EMS. To commemorate his
service and dedication, a plaque was given to him for all he has done to make
Burke County
EMS what it is today. We at Burke
County EMS
miss John greatly and wish him the best as he enjoys his retirement years.
