Ryan Lambert, son of Jason
Lambert of West End Fire Department and Burke County Search and Rescue Team
successfully completed the National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR)
Fundamentals of Search and Rescue (FUNSAR) Course on May 2, 2004.
FUNSAR consist of both
practical and didactical training that gives the searcher knowledge in basic
maps and compass, treatment for medical and traumatic injuries, basic
tracking and search techniques, and wilderness survival.
This was a forty-seven (47)
hour training course sponsored by Burke County Emergency Services, Western Piedmont Community College, NC Division of Emergency Management, and hosted by
West End Fire Department.
By successfully completing
the practical and written exam, Ryan receives a National Certification from
NASAR, which makes him the youngest SAR TECH III in the nation at the age of
10.
